1/ History of the coffee table

3/ What are the criteria for choosing your coffee table? 

There are different criteria to consider before choosing it. 

Indeed before buying your coffee table you have to define the style you want to give to your living room, adapt the materials: wood, glass or metal, stone etc. and finally, the last important element: the coffee table must be functional.

It is best to choose it by paying attention to the size of the room, the space it will have to occupy and even its height.

Style It can be expressed by the choice of the coffee table and the material in which it is made. For example, if you want to create an ethnic or Nordic style, choosing a wooden coffee table is a good idea: it will create the originality of a stay. Be careful, however, not to overload your living room with wooden furniture! On the other hand, if you opt for an industrial or even retro design style, choose a wrought iron coffee table that will add character to your décor. Again in a different style, in order to bring out the modern atmosphere of your stay, it is the plastic coffee table you need it: it comes in several models, all of the most colorful and original. Finally, if you find that the furniture in your living room is already made up of strong pieces, lean in particular towards a glass coffee table The latter creates a light atmosphere and knows how to marry with any style! 

Functionality : you have to know how to coordinate the chosen style with the practical side. When choosing your coffee table, it is important to consider the size of the room. In a second step, you have to choose your coffee table according to the height of the sofa: ideally it should be at the same height, or even a little lower. In the same vein, if you have a small stay, it is important not to choose a coffee table that is too large but rather a small coffee table. You can also place a coffee table in a bedroom next to an armchair to form a small resting area. It will become a central part of this piece.

Finally, a final criterion to consider: maintenance to devote to it: depending on the materials chosen, the maintenance will have to be more or less important.
